Have you ever considered going to your boss and requesting a flexible schedule? Reality is balancing a full-time career and being a mom is a tough job. Twenty to thirty years ago, moms stayed home and took care of the home and the children. Today's woman, does all of that and yet holds down a full-time job. Most of us really enjoy our career but would also like a little more time to be that mom who bakes cookies for the school party not the mom who runs into the store 15 minutes before the party starts to buy the day old cookies.
Can you imagine working from home 2-3 days a week or working 9 am - 3 pm while the kids are in school and picking up those extra two hours of work after the kids go to bed? More and more companies are realizing the need to be flexible with working moms especially with the baby boomers starting to retire. The time might just be right to ask your boss for that flexible schedule you've always dreamed of.
One of the reasons that I started this blog was to share with other woman of my generation resources that I have found to make our lives a little easier. In my quest for flexible schedules, I ran across an article that mentioned a Web site that focuses on helping employees get flexible work schedules approved at their current job. Check it out. www.workoptions.com
If any other mom has ideas to share with the rest of us, please post your comments. We're all in this together!
